Chaos Reborn live stream on Joystiq

You can watch the first ever recording of Chaos Reborn games at Joystiq. I managed to save myself from humiliation by winning 3 out of 5 games, although I wasn't exactly playing my best. It was good fun though, and I hope it gives you an idea of what the final game will be like.

  1. Excellent video. Really gives a good idea of what to expect and I'm pleased to see how much it reminded me of matches I played in the original.

Only disappointment is the best spell in the game Gooey Blob didn't get cast. So many fond memories of managing to wipe everyone out (including myself) with a blob that ended up totally pillaging the map. Truly the perfect antidote to an otherwise dull starting selection of spells

    1. What do you mean "including myself"? Gooey Blob and Magic Fire did not affect the wizards who cast them, nor their creatures. The worst thing they could do was block them.

    2. Been a few years since I played but thinking about it usually I'd be playing against one other human but we'd control 3-4 wizards each which changes things up a bit with the spell.

  2. Consider yourself as having at least one KickStarter backer when the time comes.

  3. Landscape and unit graphics look good, though I'd like to see them animated and with more obvious hexes on the land. I think the UI needs a bit of work although I know most of it is probably placeholders. :)

  4. Everything is basically placeholder yet, the UI especially (it's Unity default). All the units will have nice animations of course. This is just a sneak peek of the prototype at works, which starts to look nice, but what's even more important, it's hell of a lot of fun to play!

  5. While true to the original, it seems a bit silly that you can kill a wizard in one shot when there are a bunch of creatures on the board. I'd like to see the chance to kill an opponent mitigated based on the number of creatures the target has summoned (illusory or otherwise).

  6. Has there been a delay in launching the KickStarter?

  7. Enjoyed watching the video and looking forward to the remake next year. One thing i hope the finished version has is the awesome wizard death animation and the Beep Beep Beep sound when casting a spell! (or modern takes on those) :)
